Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

The Gemara questions whether Chanukah or Rosh Chodesh are mentioned in Birchas Hamzon, but both days are certainly mentioned during Tefillah.  However, there seems to be a discrepancy between them; if one omits Rosh Chodesh (Yaaleh veyavo) during Tefillah he need to repeat, but if he omits Chanukah (Al hanissim) he doesn’t – why?

The community is required to support the Talmid Chacham who is preoccupied with his community’s affairs.  Why is this related to him being a Talmid Chacham?

According to Rebbi Yishmael why is there no Havdalla recited on Yom Kippur which falls out on Motzei Sahbbos – just as we make Havdalla on Yom Tov which falls out then?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

The community is required to support the Talmid Chacham who is preoccupied with his community’s affairs.  Why is this related to him being a Talmid Chacham?

According to Rebbi Yishmael why is there no Havdalla recited on Yom Kippur which falls out on Motzei Sahbbos – just as we make Havdalla on Yom Tov which falls out then?

 

Eruvin 4 – עירובין ד

If there is a Chatzitza present on most of the hair, the Tevillah is passul.  Rashi describes the hair being knotted one by one.  Why is this considered a Chatitza on most of the hair if only a minute portion of each hair contains the knot (which prevents water from entering the interior of that knot)?

We learn that Shiurim were learned from Sinai.  We also learn about the seeming uncertainty as to the exact size of an Amma.  How can there be a safek about something which was taught through a Halacha lemoshe misinai (see Ramba”m’s Introduction to Mishnah)?
