Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

Rebbi Akiva insisted to use the water for Netilas Yadayim rather than for drinking.  How is one allowed to endanger his life for a Mitzva Derabanan?

The Gemara tells us elsewhere that Dovid Hamelech was punished for referring to the Torah as ‘Zemiros’; whereas in our Gemara we find Torah referred to as ‘Shira’ (Vayehi shiro)–  what is the difference between these two terms?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

Dovid Hamelech was not held accountable for Uriya’s actual death – since he was a mored b’malchus – but rather for his neglect to process his case in Sanhedrin.  But without a verdict from Sanhedrin it would seem that he is considered completely innocent, just as any other capital punishment transgressor who is considered halachically innocent until the Beis Din actually issues a ruling on his guilt (see Tosfos Makkos 5a D”H V’chen, and Gilyon Hashas).

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

The Gemara relates that the Malach Hamaves couldn’t approach Dovid Hamelech who was learning Torah continuously.  Why couldn’t he approach while he would tend to personal needs?

Dovid Hamelech was told by Hashem that he was destined to die on Shabbos.  If so what was the purpose of learning uninterrupted; since it was already pre-determined?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

Rava asked, since they are all immersing in a Mikva (in addition to taking the shower) than there is no damage being done.  But why is there no concern that perhaps occasionally they will neglect the Mikva altogether, since they have the erroneous perception that the shower is the primary purifier?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

The Gemara relates that Abaye went outside to point to Hashem rather than merely pointing up the ceiling as Rava did.  What explanation can be suggested as to the differences in their expressions?
