Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

The Gemara located a Tanna who holds ’Ein Bereira’ by a Derabanan – from the Braisa of Techumin.  Tosfos explains that we could not prove this from the Braisa of Maaser, since although Maaser of vegetables is Derabanan, nevertheless the concept of Maaser is rooted in Torah, and is therefore (perhaps ) more stringent.  But isn’t Techumin also rooted in Torah, according to the opinions who hold that the Twelve Mil limit is min hatorah?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

The Gemara relates how Yosef Shidah dictated the seven halachos of Treifa.  How can one accept Torah from a Shed?

We learn that Eliyahu cannot arrive on Erev Shabbos and thus Moshiach cannot arrive on Shabbos.  How is this compatible with our belief that Moshiach can come any day?

Rava critiques Rav Nachman for expressing his like/dislike of certain halachos.  But don’t we find many times (Shavuos 45b etc.) where the Chachamim would praise a specific halacha, and at other times negate and dispute others?

“Ein ma’avirin al ha’ochlin” the Gemara seems to apply this to all foods.  Since the subject matter in the story was ‘Gluskin’ (bread/baked goods) perhaps this only applies to items such as those – which carry added significance (Hamotzie, food staple etc.)?
