Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

It seems that according to Rebbi Meir although saliva in one’s mouth is considered a separate entity (with regards to din of Mashkin and Hechsher) there is no concern of carrying saliva on Shabbos.  What is the difference?

  1. It is in its place. Tosafos in shabbos said that writing is considered an Hanacha even while walking because it got to its last destination. Here too, it is not being carried and is completely at rest. A Kameya, when it is being used for a Refua She’ein Bo Sakana, may even be in your palm. There too it is not being carried from one place to another, and is said to be in its place.
