Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

The Gemara explains that Rav Sheshes needed to teach us the diyuk (inference) in the Mishna that bread which crusted is permitted.  Rashi adds that this diyuk was not self-evident.  However the Mishna seems to state clearly that the issur is merely if it won’t crust before Shabbos, which clearly implies that crusting is the benchmark.  Why is this not self-evident?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

Tosfos points out that according to R’ Meir and R’ Yehuda the prohibition of Shehiya (on exposed coals) applies even to something with is fully cooked and is ‘mitztamek vera lo’ (the over-cooking is degrading it).  Since no positive cooking experience is taking place, what can be the reason for this prohibition?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

Rava allowed moving the pottery in reshus harabim since ‘it is suitable for me’ – why is that additional element necessary, since as Rashi explains, a keli does not lose its status regardless of its location?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

Rava explains that Rebbi Meir and Rebbi Yehuda are discussing (parts of) an oven which was initially heated when detached; therefore according to R”Y they are muktza.  Although it will not attain a din of Tanur, why are they muktza – since the shards are suitable in their current form (to cover a barrel etc.)?
