Shabbos 95 – שבת צה

Abaye concludes that according to Rebbi Shimon if the puncture is below the Reviis mark, the contents are considered connected to the ground.  The size of the puncture discussed here (presumably) needs to be the size of a small root, although a smaller hole is sufficient for liquid to leak out.  If liquid leaking is not reckoned with, then why is the Reviis amount serving as our benchmark?

  1. A hole the size of a Reviis dissolves it from being a Keli. Reb Shimon considers the contents open to the ground only when they are not said to be contained in a Keli.
