Shabbos 64 – שבת סו

Tosfos initially cites an approach that placing the pepper etc.  in one’s mouth is classified as refu’ah, but then Tosfos discounts this and maintains that it was not included in the issur of refu’ah on Shabbos.  Why was this not included in the gezeira?

The Chachamim allowed two specific accessories to be worn on Shabbos on account of maintaining attractiveness, just as we find regarding Niddah.  Why don’t we find specific limitation by Niddah as well?

The Gemara lists a variety of therapeutic procedures that can be performed on Shabbos. Why are these not included in the Gezeira that prohibits doing Refu’ah on Shabbos?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:

In an earlier Mishna (86b) we learned that one is allowed to bathe the miila on Shabbos; a halacha which seems to be agreed upon by all.  Is this the same case as the machlokes in our Mishna?

If ‘Mezalfin’ is sufficient for the newborn’s wellbeing, why does Rebbi Elazar ben Azarya permit bathing?
