The Mishana states that they are tamei with any amount ‘even as little as a mustard seed’ – why is it necessary to elaborate further once it has already stated that any amount will do?
Although the mishna uses the term ‘kol shehu’ we nevertheless find that this term can be used to describe a large amount, as we find in gemara eruvin (80 amud alef) where the term kol shehu denotes a tefach (see also tosfos eruvin 10 amud alef). It is therefore necessary to explain that in our case kol shehu is referring to even a minute amount.
