Brachos 11 – ברכות יא

Beis Shamai infer from ‘uveshachbecha uvekumecha’ that one must maintain the proper position during shema, since if it were simply teaching us the proper time of shema recital it would have said ‘baboker uba’erev’ (morning and night).  But if it would have used those terms  it would have implied that the time for shema is determined by the strict definition of day or night, contrary to the principle (mentioned numerous times in the masechta) that shema is dependant upon the time of lying down and rising; hence the reason for the Torah using the words ‘uveshachbecha uvekumecha’.
