We learn that the guest is meant to lead the Zimun in order that he should recite the special bracha to bless the host. Why does this depend on him leading the Zimun – why can’t he say this bracha regardless?

Today’s Daf Yomi Question:
The Gemara provides a list of landmarks that require a bracha on account of a miracle that occurred to Klal Yisrael in those locations (neis shel rabim). Amongst them is mentioned the salt-pillar of Lot’s wife; why is this also considered a communal miracle?
