Today’s Daf Yomi Question:
The Gemara says that a Beis Sha’ar of a Yachid can house the Eruv, although one who resides there does not have to contribute to an Eruv. Since generally these two concepts go hand in hand, how can we differentiate in this instance?
The requirement for the placement of the Eiruv is that it should be a Makom Meshumar like a house. A Beis Shaar of a Yachid does fulfill this requirement although it is not a house all of its own, while usually we will only find this condition met when it is a real house.
